Formative to Simon's career and experience was the opportunity to study with and then join Canon Hill Puppet Theatre, the internationally respected resident company of the Midlands Arts Centre in Birmingham. Performing in ten different productions over three years in venues in the UK, France, Germany and Hong Kong he performed nearly 1,000 performances using rod puppets, hand puppets, masks, dance and mime. With Polka Children's Theatre he toured for a year as Pinocchio, playing Pinocchio in a Commedia mask. Since then he has performed with John Wright's beautiful marionettes at the Little Angel Theatre and in three seasons of performances of Haydn's puppet opera Philemon and Baucis, performed with full orchestra and singers at the Esterhazy Palace in Eisenstadt, Austria and in Potsdam. He has performed in BBC Worldwide's arena show CBeebies Live bringing Roly Mo to audiences of up to 4,000 at a time! He created the original stage show of Charlie and Lola which premiered at the Los Angeles Book Fair at UCLA.
