Check out Simon's puppetry showreel on YouTube!
Simon continues to be regarded as one of the UK's leading television puppeteers with over a thousand television puppet shows to his credit. From puppeteering in one-off television shows, such as The Weakest Link, or the Generation Game, to producing series comprising over a hundred episodes, such as Spitting Image and Fimbles, his TV puppetry experience is extensive!
In recent months he has made more Churchill Insurance commercials, this time with Dawn French ("oh yes!"), and two commercials for PG Tips with Monkey and Johnny Vegas. He also managed to make a brief appearance on the new Muppet Movie as a guest puppeteer. Bear Behaving Badly continues to be shown on CBBC, and Fimbles is usually airing somewhere between the UK and the Far East! In a recent documentary 30 years of Children's ITV Simon was delighted to see that one of the very few puppets to appear was his alter-ego of six years, Nobby the Sheep.
In February of this year Simon took up a full-time post in the Church of England, and was licensed as Priest in Charge of St Anne's Soho by the Bishop of London at a great service attended by quite a number of puppeteer colleagues and featuring large puppets attached to the gates of the church! Already dubbed by the West End Extra newspaper as The Puppet Priest, he will continue to use puppets in church and childrens' work where it's appropriate and also, though to a lesser degree than in the past, in commercial projects.
